Microsoft Copilot for Retail Operations
The Problem
Retail leaders are drowning in data and still flying blind
Most mid-market retailers have invested in ERP, POS, and ecommerce systems. The data exists. The problem is that it takes too long to get it into usable form. Decisions get made on lag, instinct, or neither.
Access, not answers
The information is in the ERP. Getting it out is the friction.
What Copilot actually does
Remove the layers between your team and the operational picture.
"Most retailers don't have a data problem. They have an access problem. The information is in the ERP. Getting it out is the friction."
— All Your Ducks
AI Built Into Business Central's Nest
Microsoft Copilot in Dynamics 365 Business Central is an AI assistant embedded directly in your ERP environment. It’s not a third-party chatbot that guesses at your data. It reads your actual inventory levels, open purchase orders, sales history, and customer records.
For retailers, that grounding matters. A Copilot response about inventory health is only useful if it reflects your real stockroom, your real open orders, and your real vendor lead times.
All Your Business Ducks in
Copilot for retail businesses earns its place when it reduces the time between a question and an operational decision. Here’s where that shows up for retailers.
Ask which items are trending below reorder point across locations. Get AI-generated reorder recommendations with suggested quantities, grounded in your own lead times data.
Summarize open AR by aging bucket. Identify which receivables are past 60 days. Copilot gives finance teams a real-time narrative of cash position without a manual report pull.
Based on current stock levels and historical order patterns, Copilot can draft purchase order line items for review. Finance approves. Procurement sends. Time saved: hours per week.
For retailers with multiple storefronts or warehouse locations, Copilot can surface inventory discrepancies, flag transfer opportunities, and summarize stockout risk by location.
Copilot in Business Central uses historical transaction data to project future demand. Useful for seasonal planning, promotional inventory builds, & vendor negotiation prep.

The All Your Ducks Approach to Copilot Implementations
Copilot’s value depends entirely on data quality in Business Central. Before we enable AI features, we make sure your operational data is structured correctly and your integrations are clean.

Configure Copilot features within your Business Central environment. Set user permissions and scope AI access to the appropriate modules and data sets.
Train your finance, operations, and buying teams on how to query Copilot effectively. Good questions get useful answers. We teach the patterns that produce results.
Our ERP-first position matters here. A lot of Copilot implementations fail because the underlying data is fragmented. We treat Business Central as the operational backbone before we layer in AI. That sequencing is intentional, and it's why Copilot actually performs in retail environments we set up.
Why Work with All Your Ducks: What Retailers Ask Us before Getting Started
Do we need to be on the latest version of Business Central to use Copilot?
Copilot features in Business Central require an active Microsoft subscription and a relatively current version. We assess your current environment during the data readiness review and advise if an upgrade is needed before enabling AI features.
Is Copilot reading our live inventory and sales data, or a copy?
Copilot in Business Central reads directly from your Business Central environment. It uses your actual item ledger entries, posted transactions, and live data, not a synced copy or data warehouse. That's both the advantage and the reason data quality matters before you turn it on.
We have Shopify integrated with Business Central. Will Copilot see ecommerce data?
Yes, provided your Shopify integration is posting orders, inventory adjustments, and customer data cleanly into Business Central. If the integration has gaps, Copilot will reflect those gaps in its outputs. That's one of the first things we check.
How is this different from the Power BI reports we already have?
Power BI is built for structured, pre-defined reporting. Copilot handles unstructured, ad hoc questions that aren't covered by existing reports. The two work better together than either does alone. If you already have solid BI in place, Copilot adds the conversational layer on top of it.
Does All Your Ducks provide ongoing support after implementation?
Yes. We offer several support packages that cover Business Central and integrated systems. As Microsoft updates Copilot capabilities in Business Central, which happens frequently, we keep your environment current and help your team take advantage of new features.
